the art of working with Huon Pine - the most wonderful timber on the planet...

Our Motto: Imagination - Creativity - Craftsmanship

AT WORK :
Strahan Woodworks was established in 1990 by architect Andrew Thomson and since that time a large number of crafts people, including wood turners, sculptors, blacksmiths and boat-builders, have trained and worked in our workshop.
While we actively promote and respect traditional skills we also utilise our modern machinery; an essential component in the pursuit of excellence today! This machinery compliments our crafts people and helps us achieve the highest quality across our entire product range - a standard we strive to achieve for the benefit of our customers. This equipment includes customized spindle moulder, electronic lathes and computer-controlled laser engraver.
For many years now we believe we have been at the cutting edge of Huon Pine design and production and, in support of this belief, we have been the privileged recipient of the prestigious Tasmanian Tourism Award on four consecutive years, as well as having received numerous other awards.
You are welcome to visit our shop and experience for yourself the miraculous properties of Huon Pine: enjoy its ancient and evocative fragrance, watch our crafts people at work, query our sales staff and possibly leave with your own little unique treasure to remember us by!
